Work + Holiday Party = Bust

'Tis the season...deck the halls and all that crap. So it is time again for our annual work Holiday Party. This event will take place at the Millennium Center in lovely downtown Winston-Salem. Complete with a DJ, votive candles on small round tables, cold shrimp and unlimited alcohol. Unfortunately, I feel it obligatory to attend this function which takes place on a perfectly good Saturday evening. Somehow, it's a guilty pleasure for me. All the stops are pulled and no stone is left unturned as my co-workers show up in their best garb and conversations are forced over wine and beer. Several of the people I would not say "good morning" to on a typical Tuesday may be bumping into me while we are doing the Electric Slide. I will meet their spouses/significant others and be expected to remember their names at the Spring picnic. I will run into someone in the restroom and we will chat it up about the decorations, music, food and so forth. I will borrow lip gloss that's not my color and leave my beer at someones table. I will drink too much and talk too much and hope that no one remembers.

And so it begins...
