I'm a Michael Bolton Fan

It's unfortunate that I lied on Facebook about my 25 Random Things...the very first bullet point too. Let me quote..."I love my job, and I'm not just saying that." So call me a liar, I could really care less. Because this week, I seriously hate my job. Yes, I said it. Hate my job during a week when the economy looks as shady as the construction workers who are "remodeling the office" while staring at my chest and muttering oddities in Spanish. Unfortunately, I took Latin as a second language, in hope that I might someday be a doctor. We see how this panned out. I work in an office full of doctors, prepare budgets for doctors, go to their houses for dinner and get drunk at their Christmas parties, all without the perks of the MD/PhD suffix and salary. Obviously, I can't quit. Or cuss anyone out aloud. Or beat the shit out of the copier with a baseball bat. But can't I dream???

Cheers to Friday and may next week be better with the refill of xanax awaiting at the pharmacy!!!

Blinded by the light...

Sometimes it's difficult to see how we get from one place to the other in our lives. Take Mickey Rourke for example. How did he get from Kim Bassinger in 9 1/2 Weeks, and Carrie Otis in Wild Orchid....to Randy "The Ram" Robinson in The Wrestler, you might ask? Apparently, he decided to take the road less traveled...not always a wise choice, but for him it seems to be working out just fine. I caught this flick over the weekend and was extremely surprised at what an intense and heart-felt story loomed between his horrid plastic surgery and Marisa Tomei's brass pole dancing scenes. I think I was most moved by the fact that this movie, in some ways, parallels his life of addiction, booze and bad choices. He passed up many roles, including Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, Tom Cruise's role in Rain Man, and Nick Nolte's part in 48 Hrs. Even though he had a part in Sin City 2 a few years back, I would definitely consider this his breakout role and would strongly suggest a viewing to form your own opinion. Be open-minded and objective, as the badly mangled man-weave strongly mimics Britney Spears pre-shaven head and the overuse of steroids to get this pre-geriatric body makes him appear a bit like a Popeye Halloween costume purchased from Wal-Mart. Every movie doesn't have to be life-changing, does it?

And now:

Just my opinion...

Well, we all just wanna be big rock stars....

On a personal note, this week has been full of twisty turns. I haven't felt much like blogging lately, mainly because I'm working like a whore trying to pay back-rent on my trailer. But a couple of fun things happened; including meeting my high school boyfriend Randy Owen (from the country music group Alabama). Hugs and kisses to KK for the hook up. And today my sneak peak at Jessica Simpson brunching on an omelet at the Cloverdale Kitchen, right here in the Dash. I mean sure, we have some famous people come through occasionally, (i.e. George Clooney and Jim from the Office while filming Leatherheads)...and I'm lucky to have friends in the tv/film industry (shout out to Cameron here and I will promote your new show in a future post..xoxo) and in radio; but seriously, it's usually pretty boring and the biggest news we have is a 30% off sale at Gap.

So in the words of Montgomery Gentry, Hell Yeah.

It's that kind of day, when you can say.....Happy Friday!!!

My own Hell aka Groundhog's day...

So today's high is predicted to reach 58 degrees. The sun is shining and I'm seriously so ancie (spelling?) for Spring. My favorite thing about springtime is the daffodils. I can't wait to see them popping up all over my neighborhood this year. Well really my favorite thing about springtime is leaving work and immediately going to meet my friends for drinks, but the daffodils are nice too.

In other news I went to yoga last night. Just to give any guys out there who read our blog a heads up...In case the Yogi instructs you to do this pose...

make sure you are prepared in the case it makes you have to let a big fart out in front of a class full of women.
It's ok, we understand, but it still doesn't mean I'm not going to blog about it. Skanks old dude for coming to yoga, skanks for nothing for the fart.

Lastly, I may be drinking heavily tonight due to the fact that our office floor is getting painted and EVERY SINGLE PERSON in my office has an opinion about the color, the way they are prepping the walls, the way they are using the paintbrush, etc etc etc. You would seriously think that they all minored in carpentry after their MEDICAL residencies. If it wasn't Friday & going to be 58 degrees I might have to stick a paintbrush up some one's ass.

Happy Friday!

On a More Important Note -

Our favorite villian - social Olivia Palermo - is interviewed in today's NY POST. One of my close friends has a secret girl crush on her so P, this is for you...

Such information is divulged:

"She wanted to be a serious actress. But then she realized "that maybe this is a good opportunity to get in front of the camera."

"She is rumored to be the real-life model for Blair Waldorf, the Machiavellian teen queen of "Gossip Girl" books and the TV show. ("That's so ridiculous," says Palermo. "I don't even watch 'Gossip Girl.'")"

"As part of her "City" contract, Palermo is ostensibly employed at Diane von Furstenburg. She is vague, however, about exactly what it is she does all day, and refuses to say whether she is on the payroll. When asked what time she has to be at work, she cannot answer."

Blah blah blah...now the good stuff...here are a few pics of Olivia Darling.

Her dead stares and anxious looks to Whitney's good fortune really crack me up.

Also found while researching... an interview with Whit's sidekick ERIN. She's definitely more my speed. Her dad is also a guitar player for AC/DC. totally makes sense now!

Shut the front door...

Don Draper Was Almost Jack Donaghy!

via nymag.com

Could you imagine if my beloved Don Draper had actually won the role of Jack??? Thank you TV Gods for not allowing that to happen. I couldn't think of a more tragic cosmic mix-up than if that had taken place. Not to mention both shows would probably have not made it past the first season without those two playing the lead male roles..i'm just saying.

Just another reason why Tom Colicchio is THE MAN.

Ohhh Happy Dayyy!

In my most gospel choir of gospel choir voices...

Nie is back! Nie is BACK! NIE IS BACK! Everyone who's seen a blog knows who NIE NIE is and has heard of the miraculous journey she and her husband have been on since late summer 2008. Today she's made her first post since the accident and it may be 30 degrees here, but it feel like 75 from the warm fuzzies she & her family are sending us all.

Go check it out. It will make your heart sparkle.

And it really is 30 degrees here today...the coldest it's been in the DASH since 2005. I wish it would just snow already. Puhpuhpuhllleeeese???

Happy Friday people.

what thaaaaaa?

So I was visiting the girls over at FUGS and ran into these two...

and literally had to do a major double take. whaat thee fuuuuuggg? First the chick on the left is January Jones. Ms Jones is fabulous and can really do no wrong by me. For those of you who aren't familiar, she is currently playing the role of Mrs. Betty Draper on my fav show MAD MEN. She's appeared in American Pie 2, Love Actually (I KNOW! I just realized - one of the American Girls in the bar), and countless others. I can't even handle this look she is going for...Looks like she missed her hair/make up/eyebrow trim appointments and just came running out the door from the gym with her LBD and heels securely on.

She can usually be seen out and about looking more like so:

She's one cool chick, and I just hope she can recover.
The other one's J. Alba. All the pics I could find on her made me want to throw up my green tea, so she really gets no love from me.

This week's been pretty rough...2009 is not proving to be that fabulous just yet. Hope I don't have to wait til September 19 for something good to happen! :)

the chapel of loooooooveeee

disclaimer: I do not like postings that are all about the writer, where they aren't filled with hysterical tidbits, but make you feel like all this person does is talk about themselves. so i'm sorry for this post. but I HAVE TO DO THIS TO FEEL SANE. so read on if you'd like or just keep scrolling my friend.

this has been one of those weeks where you can only describe as feeling road hard and hung out to dry. ja & i have officially thrown our hats into the preverbial wedding race and we are coming in strong with a finish of Saturday September 19, 2009. we have a location, a florist, a minister, about 167 of our closests friends and family members who we think will probably come to see us do this (mannn). this week has consisted of minimal sleep and gym time on my part, i'm freaking out in my head with deposits and table/chair rental costs... i knew this shit wasn't going to be easy in the slightest, but daaaaummmn.
ja has been fantastic so far, contacting caterers and really stepping up to the "alter" so to speak. i know i am so lucky to be blessed with him for the rest of my days.
i have my "colors" and crazy little thoughts and ideas i hope will end up being a reality for us come sept.
probably the craziest and best part about this whole whirlwind in my head is that i can share it all with not only ja or my mom but my best friend LJ, who is doing this same thing a week before us! it only would happen this way, she and her fiance would set their date and the only date left in 2009 that we could find was the weekend after theirs. i'm so thankful that they have decided not to run away immediately following their wedding, but will stay around to be apart of ours. we are truly bride wars in action. ;) i kid, i kid.
so hopefully i can find something better to blog about pretty soon, but for now i just needed to vent a bit..that's also what this shit is about, right? so since its friday and i'm officially "dun" at this thing called work, i leave you with a little sumin sumin to kick off this thing we call a weekend...to take you back to the days where your best friends would pick you up in the white honda and you all would proceed to drive around and find the party. poor a little out for thruway parking lot people. don't forget your pagers.
unfortunately, my weekend will be filled with the gym, photographer meeting, babyshower, and bridal show. how lucky am i ?

It's Grey Day!

In our office at least once a week two or more ladies end up wearing similar colors and one of them (never myself) gets the biggest kick out of it! Like OMG you are wearing the same color top as me! And we both have on Black Pants! Who would have imagined??! I cannot tell you how much this shit drives me crazy. It’s not as though they both came up with the answer to world peace…At the SAME TIME. And if two people (I and J, for example) both are wearing say, yellow, then we get the “well thanks for not calling and telling me to wear my yellow!” Anger? Jealousy? I just don’t get it. Maybe one week out of the year we can establish the color week and Monday will be red and Tuesday will be blue and so forth. Enough already…I’m so over it.

And Another One...

I found a new one... Confessions of a Teen Idol is VH1's latest celeb explotation and I'm totally hooked. Plus I love Charles In Charge so I will try to catch him any chance I can get...Pretty insane stuff. Please check it out.

The Monday After...

Things I despise about this day:

1. Riding in to WFU to see the nativity scene still up at the entrance.

2. The humidity this morning which is causing the parking deck stairwell to smell of cat urine.

3. My co-workers who emptied all of their holiday goodies from their kitchens and carted them into the work breakroom.

4. I need sushi...again.

5. My head is pounding, probably a symptom of alcohol and sugar detoxification (note to self: check webmd).

6. I have more work to do than I would like...which is none at all, but I do kind of need a paycheck and all.

7. It will take me until August to remember it's 2009 instead of 2008, by then I've only got 4 months left until it changes again.

Happy New Year!!!!

After all the planning, celebrating, hoopla and such...it's all over. 2008, with it's ups and downs was full of newsworthy events. The unbelievable Superbowl "helmet catch" that brought the NY Giants to their win, China hosting the 2008 Olympics, my man Michael Phelps, the soaring price of gas, Governor Eliot Spitzer's prostitution scandal, Sarah Palin running for Vice President which revived SNL, and the election of our 44th President, Barack Obama, just to name a few. It is a time of reflecting and renewing.

For me personally, it's a time of detox, closet cleaning and to lace up the running shoes and hit the asphalt. I hope to spend less money on clothes, more time with family and be more diligent at work. As usual, I will keep these personal resolutions that I have set for myself, at least until February 8th or so...

xoxo
